Postcard, Seyðisfjörður

Text on back of card: View of the Hótel Aldan in Seyðisfjörður. This picturesque town lies at the head of the long and narrow fjord of the same name and is flanked by the mountains Strandartindur and Bjólfur. Built on one of the best natural harbors in Iceland, the town experienced an economic boom in the late 19th century with the establishment of the Icelandic herring fishery by Norwegians. The town is noted for the many well-preserved old wooden houses from that era.
